In previous newsletters, we have discussed the great revival of the coffee industry in Rwanda. The coffee industry was virtually destroyed during the horrific civil war and genocide, but after huge amounts of hard work and determination, Rwandans have been putting their lives back together, putting coffee farms back together, and now, they have held their inaugural coffee contest, the Rwanda Golden Cup. Please come to Blue Horse Coffee on Saturday, 12/1/07. We’re hosting a fundraising event for Mainstay Life Services, a local organization that provides residential and other important services for the developmentally disabled. Among the programs offered to individuals receiving service from Mainstay is an art class. We will be hosting an exhibit displaying resident artwork beginning 12/1, and running for the entire month. GELATO ALERT!!
Brace yourself for some bad news: our gelato case is broken, so we are presently unable to sell you gelato. We do have a new case on order, but it won’t be here for a week or two.
We are very sorry about this, believe me, especially since we have some new flavors for you to enjoy. Well, the wait will heighten your anticipation to taste the Italian pistachio, the pumpkin, the spiced apple caramel, the autumn crunch cookie, and the pomegranate sorbetto. We.....

There is a fine line between providing information and patting one’s own back – sometimes. I suppose that the line will be crossed here a time or two, but that is up to you to decide.
Since we were named Pittsburgh’s best coffeehouse in two local polls this summer, we’ve seen a lot of new faces, which is great. A lot of familiar faces have been very generous in taking the time to congratulate us, which is also great. The other day, a couple came in and ordered two cappuccinos, a.....

In an unprecedented show of support from customers, Blue Horse Coffee was named the best Café/Coffeehouse in Pittsburgh in the Post-Gazette.com poll, and the Best Coffeehouse in the Pittsburgh Magazine poll. So, here it is. A blog section of the website. [If you could see and hear me, you’d see my eyes rolling in resignation, a heavy sigh cutting through the air.]
Blog, blog, blog – just say it out loud, slowly and steadily. It’s an awful word, isn’t it? It sounds like maybe some kind of a disease of a bovine’s intestinal tract, something that secretes a foul-smelling and viscous fluid, the treatment of which requires tubes, large plastic buckets, and finger-to-shoulder gloves.
